What Vegetables Lower Cholesterol?

Lowering the LDL (low-density lipoprotein), bad cholesterol in your system, can easily be done with a few minor changes to your diet. Eating more vegetables and reducing your red meat intake is one step you can take to keep your levels of LDL low.


    Eating vegetables that contain natural antioxidants such as broccoli and Brussels sprouts will help to lower cholesterol.


    A diet with at least three meals each week that include legumes or beans will lower cholesterol. This could be a cold bean salad, black bean dip or a hummus sandwich.


    Dark green leafy vegetables are high in fiber, and eating salads with cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots and beetroot on a regular basis will help keep the levels of bad cholesterol low.


    Sweet yellow peppers, red and green bell peppers and even chili peppers and cayenne pepper (ground and dried) added to your diet will help to reduce LDL.


    Eating soy beans and products made from soy beans such as tofu can help to lower the bad cholesterol in your body.
